The focus group “Green in and by IT”, sponsored by the Canton of St.Gallen and made up of representatives of the ICT industry, end customers, other application-oriented sectors and the public sector, dealt with the opportunities and obstacles for increasing Green IT measures in companies.
The focus group set itself the following objectives:
- Clarify the needs, topics and questions of the individual actors
- Clarify and prioritise fields of action and interfaces in the topic area “Green in IT and Green by IT” (Green in IT = energy-efficient IT devices, servers, network infrastructure; Green by IT = smart, sustainable technology applications, e.g. for Smart Home, Smart City)
- to stimulate and promote the implementation of Green IT measures in companies in a more targeted manner
- agreeing on a cooperation model on how to work better together and achieve a wider impact to strengthen Green IT
